Abstract The following 11 species of ticks are recorded for the first time from various countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific: Argas (Persicargas) robertsi (Indonesia), Amblyomma nitidum (West Irian), Haemaphysalis (Rhipistoma) heinrichi (Laos), H. (R.) ornithophila (Laos, Taiwan), Ixodes collocaliae (Philippines), I. frontalis (Philippines), I. granulatas (Cambodia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand), I. simplex simplex (East New Guinea, Taiwan), I. spinicoxalis (Laos, Thailand), I. vespertilionis (China, Taiwan), Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Laos). Also numerous records are given for Argas (Canos) vespertilionis group from eastern Asia and Australia.

While studying the collections made from the Western Ghats (Kerala) in October, 1968, we came across two new species of Agromyzidae belonging to the genus Phytobia Lioy subgenus Pöemyza Hendel, the descriptions of which are included in this paper. Both species, Phytobia (Pöemyza) kumliensis, sp. nov. and Phytobia (Pöemyza) walarai, sp. nov., were reared from their host plants, two different species of grass, the former was also collected on wings.

Abstract Six new species, Aulocorthum dasi, Eutrichosiphum taoi, Greenidea (Trichosiphum) bucktonis, Greenidea (Trichosiphum) manii, Macrosiphoniella matsumurana and Vesiculaphis kuwanais are described from Assam, and 30 species are reported for the first time from the same State, of which 7 species, viz., Ceratovacuna nekoashi (Sasaki), Ceratovacuna sp. B. Takahashi, Clethrobius near comes (Walker), Greenidea eugeniae Takahashi, Melanaphis arundinariae Takahashi, Metanipponaphis near cuspiditae (Essig & Kuwana) and Uroleucon tanaceti (L.) are new records from India. Besides, males of the six species, Aulacorthum sp, Macrosiphum (Sitobion) rosaeformis Das, Macrosiphum (Sitobion) sp., Rhopalosiphum nymphaeae (L ), Myzus persicae (Sulz.) and Schizaphis ? rotundiventris (Signoret) are also noted.

Abstract Five new species of Tipulidae from South India are described, these being Tipula (Indotipula) tetradolos, Xipholimnobia (Xipholimnobia) madrasensis, Gonomyla (Idiocera) megasrigma, Styringomyia monochaeta, and S. pentachaeta. In addition figures of the male hypopygium and venation of several previously described species of Indian cranefiies are provided, virtually all belonging to the genus Toxorhina. Loew, none of which had been illustrated previously.
