Plant communities of forest clearings dominated by grass and grass-like species are analyzed. Their system is based on the coenological species groups. Each association is characterised from the view point of synecology, synchrology and syntaxonomy.

Heliotropium supinum L. is anamphistomatic, amphitrichomic and xeromorphic species. The stomata are anomocytic and their distribution is of potato type. The entire aerial surface of the plant is hairy. The frequency of stomata and hairs is high. The configurations of epidermal cells are straight and highly sinuous on upper and lower surfaces respectively. The stomatal frequency, absolute stomatal number and stomatal index are higher on the lower surface and significantly vary in plants from different sources. The variations in stomatal index on either surface are narrow but the ratio of stomatal indices between the two surfaces is uniform, hence it may be used for taxonomic purposes.

Chalara (Corda) Rabenh. and some closely similar and related genera asExochalara W. Gams etHol.-Jech.,Fusichalara Hughes etNag Raj andDictyochaeta Speg. have been studied from the territory of Czechoslovakia, occassionaly from Poland or other regions. The paper provides a key to phialophorousHyphomycetes with unbranched conidiophores and integrated terminal phialides, as well keys to species of studied genera. Redescriptions and figures are given for twenty species ofChalara, two species ofExochalara, one species ofFusichalara and seven species ofDictyochaeta Speg. 1923, the latter being an earlier name forCodinaea R. Maire 1937. Two new species are described both inChalara andDictyochaeta—C. neglecta Hol.-Jech.,C. piceae-abietis Hol.-Jech.,D. abnormis Hol.-Jech.,D. menisporoides Hol.-Jech. and one inExochalara—E. imbricata Hol.-Jech. Teleomorphs associated with the examíned species are listed; the one connected withChalara breviclavata Nag Raj etKendrick is described as a new species here—Chaetosphaeria chalaroides Hol.-Jech.
