Vegetational changes in a wet meadow complex, South Bohemia, Czech RepublicPrach, Karel
doi: 10.1007/BF02853197pmid: N/A
Directional changes of vegetation in a wet meadow complex are described, comparing phytosociological relevés taken in 1956, 1963, 1984 and 1989, and vegetation maps made in 1956 and 1984. The relevés were located at various distances from the pond shore predominantly reflecting differences in water regime and intensity of farming. The data were elaborated using direct and indirect gradient analyses. Alterations of environmental factors (moisture, nitrogen) were expressed using Ellenberg's indicator values.
Synopsis of the rupicolous vegetation of Galicia (North-western Iberian Peninsula)Ortiz, Santiago; Rodríguez-Oubiña, Juan
doi: 10.1007/BF02853199pmid: N/A
In this paper we present a synopsis of the rupicolous vegetation found in Galicia, according to the Zürich-Montpellier School. The climate of this territory, an area of 29,439 km2 situated in the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula, is largely Atlantic European becoming subhumid Mediterranean with a Central European tendency in the east of the region. There is an appreciable summer drought but annual rainfall is high: ombroclime is thus hyperhumid or humid becoming subhumid in the Southeast. Biogeographically most of the area is Eurosiberian except part of the Southeast, which is Mediterranean. Acidic rocks (granites, gneissic, schists and slates) predominate; there are also smaller areas of limestone, gabbros, and metabasic and ultrabasic rocks, some of this last type are serpentine.
Invalidly published names inJanchen's “Catalogus florae Austriae”: Survey, analysis, and notesHolub, Josef
doi: 10.1007/BF02853202pmid: N/A
Names of species and subspecies fromJanchen's Catalogus were revised with regard to their validity; invalidly published names were compiled in a commented list of 120 names. About sixty of them were analyzed at length from nomenclatural and taxonomical viewpoints. The cause of the invalidity of these names were discussed; omission of citations of basionyms to proposals of new nomenclatural combinations is the main reason for the invalidity ofJanchen's names. Taxonomic reclassifications and nomenclatural revisions resulted in 23 new nomenclatural combinations, five of these proposals representing direct validations ofJanchen's invalidly published names. Some more general problems of nomenclature are discussed: indirect validation of invalidly published names; omission of infraspecific homonymy; the correctness and necessity to attach neglected authors' names to the names of plants based on those names distinctly taken over from such authors; problems of autonyms in the ICBN Code. The use of the category “convarietas” in cultivated plants (instead of subspecies) is emphasized. Names validated byJanchen himself in his paper of 1959 should be used with this publication place instead of their invalid publication in the Catalogus. Some propositions for future research by other authors are also added.
