Fournier's gangrene is an uncommon but serious surgical emergency, usually occurring in association with diabetes, chronic alcoholism or immunosuppression. Although cancer of the vulva is rare, it is important to remember that patients with HPV infection are at risk of developing vulval intraepithelial neoplasia, which may progress to invasive malignancy.
