This book would appear at first sight to be another of the many books on the analysis of linear the author provides us insight as to the type of market at which it is aimed. The level models, and is clearly that of a series of undergraduate courses with a wide scope of subject matter and examples. Indeed it is the breadth and treatment of these examples which set it apart from other similar texts. . The book divides naturally into two sections. The first seven chapters are devoted to models. The presentation of the material is straightforward but is illuminated by the very sensitive treat ment of the chosen data sets in which due emphasis is given to close study of the residuals. It is perhaps unfortunate that amongst these examples there is none which shows clear evidence either of non-linear pattern or of heteroscedasicity. The result is that the author feels constrained to suggest the presence of these patterns in situations where it is barely justified. The final three chapters deal with analysis of variance TI - Applied Linear Statistical Methods JF - Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series A (Statistics in Society) DO - 10.2307/2981614 DA - 2018-12-05 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/oxford-university-press/applied-linear-statistical-methods-1TTWBjfLv0 SP - 530 EP - 530 VL - 147 IS - 3 DP - DeepDyve ER -
