TY - JOUR AU - Greene, Barbara A. AB - In the special feature of the spring 1992 issue of Educational Psychologist, Berliner argued that we must learn to tell stories about our research that enable practitioners to better understand research findings. Although strongly supportive of Berliner's intent, we argue that he has made distinctions between stories and data that can erase philosophical gains that have been hard won by the field. Influencing educational policy is more complex than the telling of a good story and the existence of collaborative research efforts, and qualitative research methodologies are better suited to the long-term solution of the problem.
