TY - JOUR AB - THE COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGIST / July 2001 ABOUT THE AUTHORS José M. Abreu is an assistant professor of counseling psychology at the Uni- versity of Southern California. He received his Ph.D. in counseling, clinical, and school psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His major research interests are in the area of cross-cultural counseling, and he teaches a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses. Julie R. Ancis is an associate professor in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at Georgia State University. She received her Ph.D. from the University at Albany, State University of New York, in 1995. Her research and publications have focused on racial and gender attitudes, multi- cultural competency training, and academic climate issues. She is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Counseling and Development. Donald R. Atkinson is a professor of education in the combined counseling, clinical, and school psychology program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1970. He is a fellow in the American Psychological Society and Divisions 17 and 45 of the American Psychological Association.
