TY - JOUR AU - Thyer, Bruce A. AB - Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder has been identified under various names for at least 25 years. Much research has been conducted to operationally define the problem and to develop treatment. Behavior therapy and stimulant medication have emerged as effective approaches in bringing about certain kinds of improvements in these children. Most interventions have been developed for the school setting. However, the problems occurring in the family and with peer relationships are also in need of professional attention.
