AB - This study measured the reliability of the Personality Disorder Examination (PDE) with 20 psychiatric inpatients, who were interviewed by one of us with the other observing. High reliability was found for dimensional scores derived from the PDE, with the exception of the schizoid dimension. Values of kappa for typological diagnoses were lower than those reported by the authors of the PDE, though usually higher than 0.60. The relationship between the results of the PDE and independent clinical diagnoses was explored.
