TY - JOUR AU - Alberts, J. K. AB - This study is third in a series of three which examines couples’ complaint interactions. The first study provided a descriptive taxonomy of couples’ complaints and complaint responses while the second study compared the complaint interactions of adjusted and maladjusted couples, who were found to differ significantly in their complaint behavior. The present study determined which complaint sequences were considered to be effective and which were considered ineffective. It also was determined that adjusted couples were twice as likely to use effective sequences, while maladjusted couples were almost twice as likely to use ineffective sequences.
