TY - JOUR AU - Triandis, Harry C. AB - A framework for the study of cultural influences on social behavior is first outlined. Studies suggesting links among the elements of the framework are reviewed. Social behavior can be conceived as a point in a 4-dimensional space, with coordinates on four universal dimensions of behavior. Cultures differ in com plexity and tightness. Studies which link cultural characteristics to the frequency of social behaviors are suggested. Numerous studies that may advance social and personality psychology are suggested by this framework. Finally, a more specific section reviews work on cultural factors on interpersonal behavior, when individuals from different cultures interact.
