This is a teachers’ book: It is written by two former classroom teachers for teachers, both those currently teaching and those preparing to do so. The suggestions for classroom organization and for thematic units ring true because they come from actual classes, classes led by what are obviously some quite gifted teachers. The list price of $30 is far too much for a paperback, but Addison- Wesley offers a “school price” of $20 (Order no. 11554). This probably will become a required text in many teacher preparation courses around the country. It is a welcome and much-needed contribution to the profession.
