TY - JOUR AU - AB - SCIAMACHY (SCanning Imaging Absorption spectroMeter for Atmospheric CartograpHY) has been selected by ESA to fly on the first ENVISAT mission (1998). The Instrument Requirements originate from the Max Planck Institut für Chemie in Mainz under principal investigator J.P. Burrows /1/. The instrument comprises an imaging spectrometer operating in the wavelength range of 240-2385 nm, at a resolution of ~0.2 nm. Measurements will be performed in the nadir mode, in the limb mode and in the sun/moon occultation mode.
