TY - JOUR AU - Leopold, A., Carl AB - Abstract Progress in science depends exquisitely upon personal creativity in the professional scientist. Yet creativity is generally not well nurtured by the usual classroom teaching and laboratory exercises. Furthermore, the authoritarian structure of scientist communities may impose limits on the ability of the scientist to do and to publish creative science, and the overt reward systems may be quite inadequate in providing incentives for creativity in science. The training of creative researchers requires the development of personal skills, personal determination, and the assurance of personal rewards. This content is only available as a PDF.
