TY - JOUR AU1 - SEARS, DAVID, O. AU2 - FREEDMAN, JONATHAN, L. AB - Abstract This study reviews the literature on selective exposure to information and re-analyzes prevalent theories by pointing up existing knowledge regarding the extent to which communication bias and attitude bias actually correlate, and by considering other factors than attitude bias that might account for selectivity. If attitude bias is not a prime cause of selectivity, what about the desire for supportive information, for useful information, for relief from cognitive dissonance, and many other factors?
