TY - JOUR AU1 - Nag, Sananda AU2 - Sarkar, Manas AB - Many polymers are known to be used for effective barrier against mass transport of volatile compounds in a number of applications. Barrier properties of macromolecular films towards volatile compounds depend on solubility, permeability, diffusivity, temperature, area and thickness of film, partial vapour pressure of permeating molecules and many other factors. This article is focused on effective reduction of migration loss of some semi volatile organic compounds (SVOC) from any substrates such as cellulose. Permeation resistance of different selected polymer films towards SVOC is compared by mass loss and chromatographic technique to identify the best barrier polymer. Spray coating of some solvent soluble elastomeric polymers over a cellulosic substrate containing SVOC is found to be an effective method to reduce or prevent evaporation loss of SVOC from substrate.
