ROBINS* papers in this section were presented at the World Congress of Biologiceil Psychiatry in Philadephia, September 1985, as part ofa symposium representing the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Mental Health Research Network on Risk cind Protective Factors in the Major Mental Disorders. The symposium focused on Risk Factors in Childhood Disorders. The papers represent the contributions of four of the six nodes that make up the Risk Factor Network, all of which were represented at the symposium. This interdisciplinary Network has as its goal the identification of both biological and psychosocial risk factors in mental disorder. Its members attempt to integrate these approaches to the extent our current knowledge allows, and to push ahead in research areas that will make further integration possible. The commitment to integration underlies the members' interest in strategies such as family, twin, and adoptee studies that help to separate genetic and environmental factors, and in adding attention testing and brain imaging to the gathering of social correlates via epidemiologic and family studies. The diversity of approaches to risk factor research found in the Network is reflected in these papers, as is the limited degree to which integration TI - RISK FACTORS IN CHILDHOOD DISORDERS JF - The Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry DO - 10.1111/j.1469-7610.1987.tb00676.x DA - 1987-11-01 UR - https://www.deepdyve.com/lp/wiley/risk-factors-in-childhood-disorders-hDD0tbmqBt SP - 881 VL - 28 IS - 6 DP - DeepDyve ER -
