Safi’i, Prayudha Hartanto, and Tia R. N. Rachma Abstract―Map projection is required for modeling the earth So far, the map projection system commonly used in from sphere into flat form. Out of so many types of projection Indonesia is Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM). The systems, Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) is the most UTM divides the earth's surface into several zones, with a common map projection system used in Indonesia. The concept of zone width of six degrees, each mapped using the Transverse Mercator projection system is to maintain the angle but cause Mercator (TM) projection with the central meridian in the distortion on the area and distance. This will become problem if it center of the zone. Minimal distortion in each zone is located is used for calculating an area that require minimum distortion, in the central meridian. The further away from the central especially on a large scale.
