AB -  Summary As electronic journals continue to evolve, the traditional roles of the journal will change. One of these roles will be the journal as a community service provider. Community-based services, directed at journal reading scholars, are being developed and are changing the nature of scholarly communication. These new services raise issues of quality, archiving, identification, and pricing of electronic journals.
