AB - Otitis externa is inflammation of the external auditory meatus. It is a common, acute and chronic presentation to general practice, with around 10% of the population suffering at least one episode. Pain and itching are common symptoms and affect quality of life. Identifying the cause of otitis externa can be a challenge. This article considers different presentations of otitis externa, their diagnosis and management in primary care.
