TY - JOUR AU1 - WARBURTON, F. W. AB - INTRODUCTION. RALYA (1945)* gave a questionnaire concerned with beliefs about human nature to a group of pre-medical students in a state college in U.S.A. The same questionnaire was given to a group of 143 students at the beginning and at the end of the one-year course leading to the Graduate Certificate in Education, in the Department of Education in Manchester University. A l students taking l this course receive fifteen lectures and some group tutorials in psychology. The purpose of the present enquiry is to compare the results : (i) at the beginning and at the end of the training course. (ii) for Arts and Science students. (iii) for the Manchester and the American groups. II.-PERFORMANCE T H E M A N C H E S T E R GROUP. OF Table I gives the percentage of incorrect replies to the items of the questionnaire. The key (Column 1) gives the attitudes which Ralya considers correct. Answers which agree with the key are taken to be correct. Answers which disagree with the key are called incorrect. The terms 'improvement' and difficult ' are used in a siriiilar way. * RALYA, R.
