TY - JOUR AU - Rollins, Joan H. AB - Used the own categories card sort technique as a measure of ethnic identification of 3rd-generation female American college students of Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Irish, Jewish, French-Canadian, and Yankee ancestry (N = 120). A significant correlation (.77) was found between the ethnic involvement of group members and degree of rejection of each group by the members of the other groups as measured by a social distance scale. No significant relationship was found, however, between the ethnic identification of group members and the extent of their social distance toward other groups. Nor was any significant difference found in the relationship between social distance shown toward other groups and degree of social rejection received by ethnic group. (26 ref.)
