TY - JOUR AU1 - Cummins, P G AU2 - Staples, E J AB - A heterodyne scattering instrument using a novel, thick walled, thin pathlength cell is described. By circumventing multiple scattering problems the instrument enables measurements of particle size in the submicron region at concentrations 103 times higher than previously obtainable. Representative measurements are given for a polystyrene latex dispersion. The experimental technique is expected to be helpful for materials which do not retain their integrity upon dilution and to provide a tool for studying the validity of theoretical expressions for free and bounded diffusional motion.
