TY - JOUR AU1 - Parida, Rajeev Kumar AU2 - Panda, Dhruba Charan AB - The design and analysis of three distinct antennas for cognitive radio (CR) applications are presented in this article. The CR antenna comprises a tapered-fed monopole (ultra-wideband sensing antenna: 2.2–11 GHz), a quad-band reconfigurable (narrowband: 3.863, 4.664, 5.2, and 6.13 GHz), and a U-slot loaded (narrowband: 7.54 GHz) communicating antenna. The frequency agility function of the quad-band antenna depends upon the switching states. The U-slot loaded patch antenna’s radiating behaviour and resonant frequencies are examined using characteristic mode analysis (CMA). The antenna system exhibits less than − 15 dB isolation over the entire operating band. For validation, simulated results were compared with measurement results, which showed good agreement.
