All-in-all, the text is a handsome, beautifully illustrated, and extraordinarily insightful reference. If I could choose only three textbooks on ophthalmic plastic surgery for my library, this would certainly be one. JAMES R. PATRINELY, MD Any surgeon who claims to have no complications usually fits into one of these categories: (1) doesn’t do enough surgery, (2) has an unusual definition of complication, (3) never sees patients in follow-up, (4) is a liar, or (5) all of the above. For those who do suffer through complications of ophthalmic plastic surgery, this volume is a most welcome and valuable resource because no other contemporary book deals exclusively with the complications of ophthalmic plastic surgery. Dr. Dortzbach, a recognized expert in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, has carefully written and edited this book; it contains excellent contributions from many of his former fellows and professional associates. It very systematically and clearly covers all major areas of this subspecialty with very practical and specific recommendations on the cause, prevention, and treatment of common and uncommon complications.
