Editor's Note: The Wase MSS, in the Bodleian Library, in their bearing on later seventeenth century education in England, were discussed by Mr. P. J . Wallis, of the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in an article in The Bodleian Library Record, Vol. 4, No. 2 (August 1952). They were used for chapter 2 of W. A. L. Vincent, The Grammar Schools (London: Murray, 1969); and for the whole of the London Ph.D. Thesis on 'The English Grammar Schools, 1660-1714', by Dr. A. M. d'l. Oakeshott (1969). The following contribution consists of the Appendix to Dr. Oakeshott s Thesis: an inventory of the Wase Papers concerned. THE WASE PAPERS The Appendix is in three sections : Part I. The MSS as they are bound in Volumes 1-4 of the Wase Collec- tion. The numeration is that written on by a 19th Century annotator; some numbers were omitted or the MSS were lost; sometimes they have been bound out of numerical order.
