The meaning of the psychic factor

The meaning of the psychic factor Discusses the concept of the psychic factor. "Psychic' consists of states of consciousness, of sensations or feelings, which are concomitant in all definite organic reactions. A psychic event is then a subjective aspect of certain physiological reactions. However, such organic reactions may be mediated only under specific conditions. Not all stimuli are adapted to induce the organic reactions requisite to a psychic act. Thus, psychic consists in the synthesis of 2 or more stimuli into a simultaneous unitary reaction. Conscious state or psychic is the concomitant reaction or mode subjectively experienced when there occurs a unitary physiological reaction compounded of separate sense impressions. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Abnormal Psychology American Psychological Association

Abstract

Discusses the concept of the psychic factor.
