A new experimental device for sensitive birefringence measurements

A new experimental device for sensitive birefringence measurements A double beam detection method for the measurement of birefringence in stretching experiments of polymers is developed. By this method a noise free intensity signal is measured allowing a sensitive determination of the absolute birefringence. The efficiency of the experimental device is tested using cis‐1,4‐polybutadiene and butyl‐rubber networks. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics Wiley

Abstract

A double beam detection method for the measurement of birefringence in stretching experiments of polymers is developed. By this method a noise free intensity signal is measured allowing a sensitive determination of the absolute birefringence. The efficiency of the experimental device is tested using cis‐1,4‐polybutadiene and butyl‐rubber networks.
