Aphasia as a linguistic problem
This paper presents a qualitative description of the speech of three Broca's aphasics who have different degrees of agrammatic disturbance. Included is a description of the grammatical constituents and operations underlying the patients' free speech. By a comparison of the similarities and differences in these three grammars, a hierarchial organization within phrase structure correlated to degree of severity has been proposed.
