Abstract

[The article deals with the influence of permeability of the enclosing materials of the grandstands with canopies on the actual wind loads. Currently, banner cloths are widely used as fences of temporary structures. Since the wind for such structures is one of the main loads, the use of permeable enclosing elements is of interest. In view of the active development of computational hydro-gas dynamics, as well as the improvement of the technology for calculating wind impacts on structures with the steadily increasing power of computers, it is possible to study the mesh-banner fences in a virtual environment. Calculations were carried out in the ANSYS FLUENT software package. The object-prototype was a temporary construction of a grandstand with a canopy. By consideration of various really existing banner cloths, comparison of efficiency of their application at various speeds and directions of action of a wind is carried out. With increasing permeability, the load on the grandstand decreases, the efficiency increases exponentially. Therefore, it is profitable to use banners of high permeability. When using low-permeability, mesh-banner’s efficiency is almost not observed. The use of such banners is expedient and in some cases leads to a reduction in the load by 16%.]
