A PLEA FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE WORLD'S RESOURCES. We know that during the last years of his life Jaurks devoted the greater part of his energies to the struggle against War. We know, too, that he was murdered by a fanatic 011 the eve of the day that war was to break out. Some weeks before his death - it was at the beginning of July 1914 - he had written an article, intended for a foreign magazine, which was found amongst his papers. and in which he laid down the chief lines o his ideas on the 'organization of peace'. In i t , he dealt, amongst other matters, f with the problem of economic collaboration by the peoples of Europe in world-affairs. and his great brain suggested a method of international cooperation which is of exceptional interest in the circumstances of the present time. But this suggestion is embodied in a whole devoted to many aspects of the problem of peace. Soma parts OF this whole have since been out-run by events, notably by the 'Great War' arid all the changes consequent thereon : moreover some of the incidental matter relates to the political circumstances of the time when the article was written.
