We know that during the last years of his life Jaurks devoted the greater part of his energies to the struggle against War. We know, too, that he was murdered by a fanatic 011 the eve of the day that war was to break out. Some weeks before his death - it was at the beginning of July 1914 - he had written an article, intended for a foreign magazine, which was found amongst his papers. and in which he laid down the chief lines o his ideas on the 'organization of peace'. In i t , he dealt, amongst other matters, f with the problem of economic collaboration by the peoples of Europe in world-affairs. and his great brain suggested a method of international cooperation which is of exceptional interest in the circumstances of the present time. But this suggestion is embodied in a whole devoted to many aspects of the problem of peace. Soma parts OF this whole have since been out-run by events, notably by the 'Great War' arid all the changes consequent thereon : moreover some of the incidental matter relates to the political circumstances of the time when the article was written.
