In this paper a model and the interactive program system MECCANO2 for multiple criteria selection of optimal machining conditions in multipass turning is presented. Optimisation is done for the most important machining conditions: cutting speed, feed and depth of cut, with respect to combinations of the criteria, minimum unit production cost, minimum unit production time and minimum number of passes. The user can specify values of model parameters, criterion weights and desired tool life. MECCANO2 provides graphical presentation of results which makes it very suitable for application in an educational environment.
